A Better Covenant
Where
are you living? Are you living in the
Old Covenant, or are you living in the New Covenant? Here’s a short quiz:
Can
you name all of the commandments? Do you
know how many there are? Can you name
them in order?
If
you were thinking of the Ten Commandments of the stone tablets, your thinking
is Old Covenant; if you were thinking of the Two Commandments that Jesus taught,
your thinking is New Covenant. Your life
on this Earth follows your thinking and
believing. The Old Covenant is a
covenant of performance, good works, and good deeds which no one could (or can)
keep.
The
good news is that God had a plan, Jesus, and with this plan the New Covenant
was birthed. Faith, righteousness,
grace, peace, joy in the Holy Ghost, and all the kingdom became our
inheritance. Refer to Hebrews 8:6-13 and
Hebrews 9:12-15. Verse 15 says that we
have an eternal inheritance. “Inheritance” as it is in Webster’s New World
College Dictionary:
1. Action
of inheriting
2. Something
inherited
3. Ownership
by virtue of birthright
4. Anything
Received as if by inheritance
5. Any characteristic passed on by heredity
The
moment you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you receive an eternal inheritance. God’s characteristics are passed on to
you. If you had a millionaire
great-uncle that passed away and left you with his million dollars, you would
inherit the money and that characteristic – you would now be a millionaire. Before you could use the million dollars
though, you would need to learn all that you can about your inheritance. Likewise, with God as your daddy, in the
spiritual you are well, healthy, and wealthy.
You have inherited the kingdom, but you have to first act, think, and believe like it belongs
to you. Learn it. Use it.
Walk in the New Covenant. It
belongs to you.
May
God bless you by giving you wisdom and insight to deal wisely with all of the
affairs of life. I appreciate your
prayers and financial support of this ministry so much. May the very God of peace sanctify you
wholly. I pray to God that your whole
spirit, soul, and body be preserved; that you be blameless unto the coming of
your Lord Jesus Christ (I Thessalonians 5:23).
