(Holman Christian Standard Bible) One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. Righteousness and salvation are both gifts from God for those who believe and are born-again. If you are reading this book, it is because you are seeking the truth. You are already in right-standing to accept Jesus as your lord and savior, just believe it. Simply say, “I accept you, Jesus, with all my heart as my savior. Thank you, Jesus, for eternal life.” Righteousness is the instantaneous condition of a believer the moment he is born-again. At the new birth, believers receive the nature of our righteous God. In other words, believers receive God’s righteousness. II Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (International Standard Version) God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that God's righteousness would be produced in us. If God made you righteous at your new birth, how can you get out of it? Can you pray your way out? Can you believe your way out? Can you talk your way out? NO! You are righteous because of what Jesus did, not of your own effort or good works. Because there is nothing you did to obtain this righteousness, there is nothing you can do to lose it. It is in you forever. Jesus has made you righteous forever in your spirit, and you are a new creature in Christ. Being righteous does not, however, automatically give you all the benefits of being righteous. If you do not believe in your new righteousness, you simply go on in life as you were – without the benefits of being a good receiver from God. God gave you the “keys,” but it is up to you to “start the engine” by learning who God has made you and believe it. Most Christians would be considered like children in the word of righteousness, as stated in Hebrews 5:12-13. Hebrews 5:12-13 (NKJV) For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. The Worrell New Testament You have very little knowledge of the character and work of Jesus Christ. Cotton Patch Translation You need somebody to teach you the kindergarten stuff. Way Translation I use the term milk-diet as indicating the stage of inexperience in the doctrines of righteousness, the stage of spiritual infancy. Conybeare Translation For everyone that feeds on milk is ignorant of the doctrine of righteousness, for he is a babe. I would say that these words apply to probably 90% of the church. What I am saying is: 90% of the church is unlearned in the doctrine of righteousness. If you live under the law of the 10 commandments, then you do not understand righteousness. Living under the law is about what you can do in your flesh or self-effort; righteousness is about what Jesus did for you, things you could never do for yourself. Righteousness is received in your born-again spirit (not your flesh) when you accept Christ’s righteousness and is brought to your soul/flesh by renewing your mind and receiving what Jesus has already done for you. When you receive righteousness in your spirit and renew your mind, your flesh will follow and you will not be blind to righteousness and the kingdom of God. You. Are. Righteous. As a believer, you are righteous. It may seem difficult to believe at first. You may have been taught to feel unworthy or ashamed of your shortcomings before now. But remember: you believed in your heart, at the new birth, and received salvation. Do not stop your believing there – believe in all that God gave you and you will be a great receiver of all of God’s promises, not just His promise of salvation. Receive all that God has given you. Righteousness could be, and was only, accomplished for mankind through the work of our lord, Jesus Christ, through His death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 5:17 (NLT) For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. The book of Romans is a story of how God restored righteousness, forgiveness, and made man a new creation on the ground of faith in Jesus Christ. You could say that Jesus made you in right-standing (righteousness) with God as a pathway to eternal life (bringing mankind back to God’s original plan). In the beginning, God created man in His image. He created us with His righteousness. Adam and Eve lived in righteousness. When they fell, they became distant from God. When Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected, He brought mankind back into right-standing with God so that we would be able to fellowship with God, as God had intended from the beginning. Righteousness means that we can go to God in prayer and praise Him just as Adam and Eve did before they disobeyed/sinned – with no condemnation. Righteousness is not a condition that man can accomplish by his works, nor can man accomplish righteousness by good deeds. Ephesians 4:24 (NKJV) and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. II Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. When we refer to each other, we think in terms of the flesh. God does not. The flesh is a temporary host to us. We are spirit beings, and that is where God’s focus is. God created the new creation, the new man, in righteousness and true Holiness. Therefore the new you (the spirit) has never been a sinner. God destroyed the old man (spirit) you were, and made you back into a righteous being. God did not destroy your flesh (body or soulish realm). This is the reason you must renew your mind (soulish realm) to be Godly. Your spirit is Godly already – your mind, however, needs to be renewed so that you know who you are and how to receive. Romans 5:21 (KJV) so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. God has perfected you (your spirit) through righteousness which is through faith in Jesus. You are triumphant over death and sin through faith in Jesus Christ. You are healed through faith in Jesus Christ. Grace reigns through righteousness. God’s unmerited favor will be man’s lifeline to God and all his provisions. Do you believe Jesus can do everything? Matthew 9:28 (KJV) And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. God has dealt with the sin problem via His son Jesus. He has put sin away by the sacrifice of Christ. Through Jesus, it is possible, on legal grounds, for man (who is spiritually dead and aligned with Satan) to be redeemed and become a new nation creation by receiving Jesus as their lord and savior, and receive the life and nature of God. The life and nature of God is righteousness. The man or woman who received the life and nature of God has automatically become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You may not know it, you may not receive the benefits of righteousness (because you haven’t learned how), but it is true, you are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The development of sin consciousness over Christians has been fostered and made real by the ministers who have preached sin instead of preaching Jesus and righteousness to God’s new creation (the born again, who in right-standing with God). Until man knows he is righteous, Satan will reign over his life. Sin, sickness, and darkness are His masters. When man knows he is the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ and knows exactly what righteousness means – Satan is whipped and defeated. How can God deal with this Satanic (darkness) nature that is in man? How can God legally deal with the sin problem and the problem sin causes. God’s cure is a ‘legal’ redemption through Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. A decision Jesus made solves man’s spirit problems forever. Mankind is perfectly restored; his fellowship with the Father is back in perfect order which means there is no sense of guilt or sin, nor memory of past wrong-doing. Jesus is a killer of the old man and disease. Romans 5:17 – a man is a new creature in Christ Jesus, the old man and all wrong doing is defeated and buried forever. You are just like a new born baby, you have no past. You are born-again. There are four marvelous facts to meditate on and understand to live free in Jesus. 1. He redeemed us from Satan’s dominion. When we accept Jesus as our lord, we change masters (from sinful nature to righteous nature). Satan no longer has dominion over you, you are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. 2. He recreates us into the kingdom of God – perfect in our spirit. Your old sinful nature is destroyed by Jesus and you now have a righteous nature identical to Jesus’. You are so perfectly recreated that Jesus can now live in your spirit and the Holy Spirit can dwell in you. 3. He turns the tables: he delivers us out of Satan’s authority and gives us authority over all darkness. 4. He remits all sin (past, present, future). You no longer have a sin nature. You are God’s righteous, perfect, and newly created child. Do not allow anyone to tell you that you are a sinner, or that you will always be a sinner, or that you have to confess the sins of your previous life (as a sinner). You are not a sinner. You are a new creation which is righteous and has never sinned. God has already dealt with the issue of sin through Jesus Christ. The newly born spirit which you are has no sins and has no sin nature in it. Satan and his demons know who you are (the righteous heir of God through Jesus), but too many times we, as Christians, do not know who we are. Christians have authority and ability over all darkness, but do not know because they never renew their minds to what Jesus has made and given to them. God has made, pronounced, judged, and established His born-again man as the righteousness of the Almighty God in the Earth. As you read these scriptures you will begin to see that God has made a righteous man that is unlimited in his ability through Jesus Christ and a man to be greatly feared by the devil and his works of darkness. One of the secrets of victory is Colossians 1:27 – confess boldly that Christ is in you (Christ is the anointing), act fearlessly, confess what the Word says about you, and live in victory now on The Earth. Your Righteous Inheritance The gospel and blessings are not solely about gaining salvation, favor, peace, authority, faith, imaginations, grace, or righteousness. Instead, the Gospel and blessings are meant to combine all these things and learning how to live and walk in all of them. It is not about what you can do, but about what Jesus has already done and already put on mankind’s account. When you know without a doubt that you are righteous, you learn to receive all that the Kingdom of God has for you while on Earth. Healing is yours. Prosperity is yours. Joy is yours. Peace is yours. Wisdom is yours. On and on, believe in all that God has given you and accept that it is yours. Proverbs 12:28 (KJV) In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death. Righteousness is that pathway in the natural realm to be well, healthy, and wealthy. Knowing you are righteous through Jesus will cause you to believe in (and for) all of God’s provisions. If you don’t believe in them, you won’t believe for them. Believe in them and for them. Receive the provisions from your heavenly father. Righteousness gives you the ability to: • stand in prayer or in the presence of our almighty God as if you had never sinned or even heard of sin. • stand before God without any fear, condemnation or feelings of unworthiness • stand before God and be greatly beloved and approved by The Almighty. • stand before God as a son or daughter of The Most High. • fellowship with God just as Adam and Eve did in the garden – sinless. • know you will live forever with Jesus. Righteousness gives you the ability to hear and communicate with Jesus and be led by the spirit. • walk in divine health on this Earth. • receive from God – because you are always in right-standing with The King of Kings. Sin consciousness (thinking you’re in sin), fear consciousness (always walking in fear), and condemnation consciousness (feeling unworthy, undeserving, or repugnant) will cause you to believe, by faith, in your own self effort, and that is no way to use faith at all. Becoming conscious of your righteousness will have the following life-changing effects upon your life: 1. Set you free from a sense of guilt, shame, and condemnation 2. Make you realize your worthiness to God 3. Give you spiritual knowledge and understanding above what you previously had 4. Drive fear right out of you 5. Cause oppression to be a thing of the past 6. Give you extreme confidence in who you are and satisfaction of knowing where you stand with God and in the world 7. Cause your faith to explode with victory in your life 8. Give you a readiness to receive from God 9. Produce peace in your mind and home 10. Give you the ability and knowledge to know you are in right-standing with God, no matter how your flesh acts. Righteousness is a power and a force that will stop sin when recognized and acted upon, and will cause right action to follow. Psalm 5:12 (AMP) For You, O Lord, bless the righteous man [the one who is in right standing with You];You surround him with favor as with a shield. Born-again Christians that believe and know they are in right standing with God will be surrounded with good will, pleasure, and favor. Romans 5:21 (KJV) That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Grace reigns through righteousness. You will never understand grace until you understand righteousness. You can only begin to learn to live in grace when you receive righteousness in your spirit and soulish realm. A lot of people know about grace but when they are confronted with a problem they get in fear and do not trust God because they do not understand righteousness. Righteousness is the great receiver of all God’s promises. Righteousness gives you the ability to learn to live in grace. Grace gives you the ability to use God’s power in your life. I could say another 1,000 things about righteousness, but no matter how many times or how many ways I try to explain righteousness it won’t do any good until you study about righteousness and believe you are in right-standing with God. From Spirit to Flesh – Renew Your Mind When you receive Jesus, His nature comes into you (your spirit). You lose the old sinful/satanic nature. You cannot have two natures at the same time. Your sinful nature is dead. However, your flesh is still alive, and you must deal with your flesh. If you were bald-headed when you accepted Jesus, you will be bald-headed afterwards too. Flesh does not change except by renewing your mind to the Word of God. If you are living in Christ and living in all spiritual blessings (according Ephesians 1:3), why would you need to get prayed for? Why be in crisis? What fruit are you bearing? Numbers 23:19 (NLT) God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? Matthew 6:26 tells us that the birds get up every morning and believe/expect that they will eat and what happens? God provides. Start waking up in the morning and expect that God blesses you because He has promised to bless you and He is faithful. Renew your mind to this thought. Your mind is a birthing place to receive all of God’s blessings and there is no disease or lack in God’s blessings. Hebrews 10:14 (KJV) For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Ephesians 2:8 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Romans 10:10 (KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Jesus did a perfect work in your spirit, but your soulish realm (mind, will, and emotions) must be renewed to the Word of God. A newly born-again Christian has a perfect spirit, but a corrupt mind. Until your mind is renewed to the Word of God, you will make soulish (fleshly) decisions. Life is difficult when you do not have a renewed mind to The Word. Mankind studies and learns, then receives, by faith, what Jesus did. Man’s responsibility from that point forward is to renew his mind. When the mind is renewed, you will gain the right knowledge, attitude, believing, and speaking. With these things all in line with God’s promises, man lives in the Gospel with blessings. No crisis in his life. He can walk well, healthy, and wealthy with a renewed mind. Why? Because if you are truly walking in the gospel, you will realize you are in right-standing with God and will get all the spiritual blessings of God (as told to us in Ephesians 1:3), and you will not have a crisis. Things may come against you, but nothing evil shall ever prosper. The fruit you bear as a born-again Christian living in the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ should exemplify the spiritual blessings. Proverbs 14:34 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. If there is anything our nation needs, it is to know that America is in right-standing with God. Dumb fleshly decisions in the flesh do not take America out of right-standing with God – they only cause problems we suffer with in the natural. Renew your mind and believe that our nation is a righteous nation. Studying the Old Testament will keep you blinded and unable to see that you are in right-standing with God. Study the Epistles first and then you will read the Old Testament with New Covenant eyes. You will learn righteousness, faith, and grace. It works whether you are good, bad, or indifferent. It works so perfectly that you want to be good. A renewed mind on this new creation nation that God has made you will produce Godliness. Godliness is your nature. Just renew your mind. Speak. Act your new nature, not the old. Your spirit is perfect (Hebrews 10:14). But your flesh, mind, will, emotions are corrupt, that is why you must study and believe. II Corinthians 3:8-17 is a good example of why you must renew your mind to the Epistles. Righteousness and grace-thinking produces right-living and right-believing. Law-thinking (thinking rooted in the laws of Moses) produces self-effort and bondage. II Corinthians 3:8-17 (NKJV) How will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech— unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away. But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses [the old testament without knowledge of the new testament] is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Your flesh cannot mess your spirit up, because you had nothing to do with making your spirit perfect and in right-standing with God. But your unrenewed mind will cause you to make bad decisions for your flesh in this world system and you will have problems in the natural not in your spirit. Jesus made you (the spirit) righteous and made you perfect, but your soulish realm, mind, will, and emotions have not been made perfect that is why you must renew your mind and believe what the word says about you. Healing comes from the spirit realm and goes through your soulish realm into your body. If the soulish realm does not know and believe by faith healing cannot get to the body. God has given each one of you a free will and you can live by your spirit, soulish realm, or your flesh. The choice is yours. If you give a natural response to a natural problem you get a natural result. If you give spiritual response to a natural problem you get supernatural results. Live by the spirit and renew your mind and live well, healthy, and wealthy. Live by your soul and flesh and you will live subject to all the world’s systems desires which is unhealthy, sick, and in want. God has made his born-again daughters and sons righteous, and knowing you are righteous makes you a really good receiver. Renew your mind to the righteousness of God which Jesus has made in you forever, and receive all of God’s provisions of health, wealth, peace, joy, etc… in the Holy Ghost. In renewing your mind, let us look at Matthew 6:33. The Phillips translation of Matthew 6:33 says to set your heart (spirit) on His kingdom and His goodness will come to you as a matter of course. Matthew 6:33 (KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (J.B. Phillips New Testament) Set your heart on the kingdom and his goodness, and all these things will come to you as a matter of course. Let’s take this scripture and study it in parts. First, how do you seek the Kingdom of God? You renew your mind with God’s Word (instructions, provisions, promises, and explanations) and focus on the Pauline Epistles. When you start seeking the kingdom through the Word of God, you will learn what the Kingdom is and is not. Now at this point we understand that Matthew 6:33 says, “Renew your mind with God’s Word, and all these things shall come to you.” Next, look at Romans 14:17 to gain more understanding. Romans 14:17 (KJV) For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. The Kingdom is God is not meat and drink. According to Webster College Dictionary, one use for the word “meat” is the core of something (a story). Another meaning is “something that someone especially enjoys or is skillful at.” The word “drink” is to take in with the senses or mind, especially in an eager manner. The words “meat” and “drink” do not necessarily mean fleshly desires. For instance, you could say the Kingdom of God is not to seek for your fleshly desires, but rather, seek The Kingdom for spiritual desires. Now it reads, “When you are seeking spiritual desires by renewing your mind to the Word of God, you will know the Kingdom of God produces righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost, and then all things will be added unto you (even Earthly things).” Confession Confess the following over your life and take control over darkness and live in righteousness: I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. The blood of Jesus and the righteousness of God have made me a real good receiver; therefore I receive healing in my body and soul. Heavenly father, I thank you for your Word which says in I Peter 2:24 by the stripes on Jesus I was healed. From the 28th Chapter of Deuteronomy I know all disease and sickness is a curse of the law. However, I know that Galatians 3:13 says Jesus Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Therefore Jesus has redeemed me from sickness and disease. I choose to believe your healing power went to work in my body. I confess the Lord Jesus Christ as lord over my life, spirit, soul, and body. I have received salvation, wholeness, soundness, and deliveredness, and I have been saved and healed by Jesus. Sickness, disease, and pain: I resist you in the name of Jesus of Nazareth – your master. Get out of my body now! My days of sickness and disease are over. I praise and worship glorifying you, Father. The Ephesians Prayer Fill in the name of whoever you are praying for in the blanks. If you are using a doctor, put your doctor’s name in there. Ephesians 1:16-19 Cease not to give thanks for _______________, making mention of him/her in my prayers; that the God of _______________'s lord, Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give unto him/her the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of God's calling, what are the riches of the glory of God's inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of God's power toward _______________ because he/she "believes" according to the working of God's mighty power. Ephesians 3:14-21 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of my lord, Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and Earth is named. That God would grant to _______________, according to the riches in His glory, to be strengthened with might by God's spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in _______________'s soulish realm by faith; that _______________, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, length, depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge that _______________ might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that _______________ asks or thinks, according to the power that worketh in _______________, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. AMEN. Conclusion If you do not know Jesus, or are unsure if you have received salvation through our Lord then speak this prayer out loud to God and believe it in your heart: Father, I come to you in Jesus’ name. I believe in my heart that Jesus died and rose again for me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and savior. I thank you Jesus I am saved. I have eternal life forever.
