Nourishment

Proverbs 4:20-27 (NKJV) “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, And your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.”

As you know, the words that we speak with our tongue can be carriers of either faith or fear. God's Word is filled with promises of health, wellbeing, prosperity, and abundant life.

Proverbs 15:4 says, “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.” Perverseness is defined as being stubborn, disobedient, or having errors. However, wholesomeness suggests health or soundness of body and mind.

As I began to meditate on the “wholesome tongue,” I began to check to see what I was producing with my tongue. I was speaking the Word, and I was bringing the Word to remembrance. I was just thinking about the Word. I knew in my spirit that my flesh needed a boost, something wholesome. Then I saw it in Proverbs 4:20-27.

In verse 20, scripture tells us to keep God's Word in our ears; verse 21 tells us that we should not let the Word depart from our eyes – and to keep our eyes on the Word until it penetrates our heart. In those words, I found my boost of energy – when I was speaking the Word with the scripture in my eyes, not just from memory.

It's like when you eat a good meal. The good meal gives you energy, nourishment, and good feelings. A week later, you can remember and say how good it was. However, the full nutritional value only comes from actually eating the meal. So it is with the Word. Get the full nutritional value and put your eyes on the word.

I appreciate so much your prayers and financial support of the ministry. I pray that God bless and prosper you, running over and pressed down – abundantly above all that you can ask or think according to the authority that working in you. May you be nourished by His Words. Sit down and have a good meal.
